Social media has immensely helped people to connect with one another. Be it family members living in different corners of the world or friends engaging in small talk, social media has fulfilled a variety of roles comfortably. Besides close acquaintances, people are now able to interact with some of their beloved celebrities thanks to the one-on-one interaction activities a lot of new applications support.
Speaking of celebrities, many cricketers frequently do Question/Answer activities to interact with their fans. Often, via a tweet or a story, they inform their fans that they’ll be answering their questions. Many players have done this in the past, and fans seem to enjoy this as much.
Recently, hard-hitting India opener Smriti Mandhana decided to follow suit and started her own Q&A story on Instagram. The Q&A couldn’t have come at a better time, considering how well she had performed in her last few games. Smriti recently broke into the 2000-ODI runs club of cricket, and that too in fine fashion. She took only 51 innings to achieve the feat, only behind Belinda Clark and Meg Lanning to become the third fastest player to score 2000-runs in women’s cricket. Men’s team opener Shikhar Dhawan is the only other Indian quickest to 2000-ODI runs. At age 23, averaging 43.08 with 4 hundred and 17 fifties already, fans have massive expectations from the India women’s vice captain.
Smriti clarified that she did the Q&A because her team-mate Jemimah Rodrigues had requested her. However once she started, she really opened up a lot to the fans questions. While she couldn’t answer every single one of the questions, she did respond to some really interesting personal questions.
Smriti opens up about her relationship status
One fan directly asked her if she was single yet. Many fans regard Smriti as one of the most beautiful female cricketers, making her relationship status rather interesting to know about. Smriti, being subtle with her response, replied “Umm…maybe”.
One of her fans also asked about her Bollywood crush. This time though, there was no hesitation as she mentioned actor Hritik Roshan. She further mentioned that she had been her fan ever since she was 10 years old.
It was good to hear from Smriti, especially since she had just recovered from some injuries. Thankfully she has been in good form post her comeback, scoring a vital 74 runs and leading the team to a 2-1 series win over the Windies women. Her good form would be vital to India’s upcoming World T20 campaign in Australia next year.
