The ICC has officially announced the WTC 2025 prize money. Interestingly, it is the highest in the tournament’s short history. The ICC has made it clear that the Test format continues to hold strong value. As a result, they are doing absolutely everything to keep the purest format of the game alive.
Meanwhile, the total prize pool for the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 Final is set at USD 5.76 million. It comes to around INR 49.27 crore. For the record, this amount is more than twice the prize money that was distributed in the last two editions of the WTC. This goes to show how much the competition has grown in stature over the years.
All you need to know about WTC 2025 prize money details
The winner of the WTC 2025 final will receive INR 30.78 crore. On the contrary, the runners-up will take home INR 18.46 crore. Apart from the two finalists, the remaining seven teams will also receive their share of the prize money based on their final positions in the WTC standings. India, who finished third on the table, will receive INR 12.31 crore.
On the other hand, New Zealand will get paid INR 10.26 crore. England will earn INR 8.2 crore, and Sri Lanka are set to receive INR 7.18 crore. Bangladesh, West Indies and Pakistan will receive INR 6.15 crore, INR 5.13 crore and INR 4.10 crore respectively.

Australia and South Africa are the two teams that have made it to the WTC 2025 final. The highly anticipated showdown will be played at Lord’s on June 11. South Africa became the first team to qualify for the WTC final this cycle. They won eight of their twelve matches, including a string of seven victories on the trot.
Their only three defeats came against New Zealand in a series where South Africa had to send a second-string squad due to a scheduling clash with their domestic T20 league, SA20. Despite that setback, they bounced back strongly and sealed their final spot after a 2-0 series win over Pakistan.
This will be South Africa’s first-ever appearance in a World Test Championship final. The Proteas now join India, New Zealand, and Australia as the only teams to have reached a WTC final. On the other hand, Australia reached their second straight final. They are also the defending champions, having won the title in 2023 by beating India in the grand finale.

Australia secured their spot by defeating India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Sydney. They won the series by 3-1 for the first time in ten years. The series result also knocked India out of the race for the final.
