Reports: KL Rahul set to marry his long-time girlfriend Athiya Shetty; wedding date fixed

The cricketer is currently in Germany for his treatment of the injury that he sustained before the T20I series against South Africa.

KL Rahul is one of the most stylish batsmen as far as Indian team is concerned. The right-handed batsman has proved his mettle in the international arena and is one of the regular members of the Indian Test team. Now, the batsman who is popular for his effortless batting, KL Rahul is all set to marry his girlfriend Athiya Shetty after dating her for a long period of time.

Athiya Shetty is a Bollywood actress and is the daughter of Suniel Shetty who was a famous action hero of the 90s. On the other hand, KL Rahul has established himself as one of an integral part of the Indian Test team. He was supposed to lead the team in rescheduled 5th Test against England, but an injury prevented him from taking part in the match that decided the fate of the 2021 series.

Athiya Shetty visited KL Rahul in Germany where he is undergoing treatment for the injury that he sustained just before the T20I series against South Africa. Since then, the batsman has been recuperating but is still not fit enough to get back on the field. As per the reports, Athiya will stay back in Germany until KL recovers from his injury.

If a report by News18 is to be believed, the families of both KL and Athiya met each other and they even took a tour of the house that the couple will be moving into after the marriage. As per the reports, the wedding may well be held in Mumbai. As far as Suniel Shetty is concerned, he really likes KL Rahul and is in favour of her daughter marrying the cricketer.

“She is my daughter, she will get married sometime. I would want my son to also get married, the sooner the better. It’s their choice. As far as KL Rahul is concerned, I love the boy. And it is for them to decide what they want to do because times have changed. Beti aur beta dono hi responsible hai (My daughter and son are both responsible people). I would like them to take the decision. My blessings are always there for them,” said Suniel Shetty.
