Reports: Rohit Sharma lodges complaint with BCCI over Sunil Gavaskar’s criticism during the BGT series

In the 5-match series, he led India in 3 games, where the team suffered 2 losses and salvaged a draw in a rain-affected match. Rohit had a disastrous series with the bat as he managed to score just 31 runs in 5 innings.

Struggling with form, he chose to drop himself from the crucial Sydney Test. His underwhelming performance drew widespread criticism, with Sunil Gavaskar being one of the critics. Now, as per reports, Rohit Sharma has filed a complaint with the BCCI over Gavaskar’s comments.

When Rohit Sharma chose to drop himself from the Sydney Test, Sunil Gavaskar questioned his decision, stating that it raised doubts about Rohit’s future in Test cricket. Gavaskar also criticized Rohit’s poor batting performances, which, according to Rohit, created immense pressure on him.

“Rohit felt that it was not necessary for Sunil Gavaskar to criticise him in that fashion, and that’s why he complained to the BCCI about Gavaskar. All these added so much pressure that he was compelled to tell it all to BCCI,” a source told.

However, netizens found Rohit’s decision to complain about the Indian legend absurd. One X user mocked Rohit, writing “Student Rohit has complained to headmaster BCCI about teacher Sunil Gavaskar. Rohit is like, ‘I didn’t score good marks because the teacher scolded me for the wrong reasons; otherwise, I’d score full marks every time’.”

Gavaskar is considered India’s greatest batsman of the 20th century. After retiring in 1987, he pursued a career in commentary and now boasts over three decades of experience. Even at 75, he continues with the same passion. This is not the first time Gavaskar has faced controversy over his remarks. In 2020, his comments on Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma sparked controversy, leading to Anushka slamming the Little Master on social media.
