Reports: Star India Player to miss one-off Test vs England owing to injury

This batsman played exceptionally well in the 2021 Test series against England and was one of the highest-run getter for India.

Team India is hosting South Africa for a 5-match T20I series with their senior players on rest. KL Rahul was announced as the captain of the Indian team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. However, the right-handed batsman sustained an injury which ruled him out of the whole series. Rishabh Pant was then appointed the captain for the Indian team for the T20I series against the Proteas.

The Indian team will be touring England after they finish the home-series against South Africa. Their English tour will commence with a rescheduled 5th Test of India’s 2021 tour of England. The match was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic and will now be played from 01st July to 05th July in Edgbaston.

KL Rahul was one of the primary reasons of India’s success in that particular series, however, if reports are to be believed, the stylish batsman may not play the one-off Test.

KL Rahul likely to miss one-off Test against England

While KL Rahul has been appointed the vice-captain of the team, his injury may prevent him from taking part in the only Test against England. KL suffered a groin injury just before the SA series started and was ruled out and now it seems like the star batsman may also miss the Test against the English team. It is to note that KL played exceptionally well in the 2021 Test series against England and helped the team to get a good start.

At the moment, KL Rahul is undergoing treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and it is difficult to say how much time the batsman will take to recuperate. As per the reports, if KL misses the match, there will be no replacement named as the team already has 3 openers and they are going to play only a single Test. The team would want KL to recover soon as he can prove to be an asset for the team like he was in 2021.
