Suresh Raina was one of the most vital cogs of the Chennai Super Kings setup not a very long time ago. However, the southpaw was not retained by the franchise for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
It was being speculated that MS Dhoni may retire from IPL after he handed the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja. However, if reports are to be believed, it is Suresh Raina who may hang his boots during the mid IPL 2022 season.
Suresh Raina may retire from all forms of cricket
Suresh Raina has been one of the most regular cricketers to represent his team in the league. The left-handed batsman rarely missed any match and was given the title ‘MR.IPL’ due to his unfailing consistency. The batsman was a part of the CSK team but withdrew from the 2020 edition of the league citing some personal reasons. In the 2021 season, the batsman looked scratchy. During the 2022 Mega Auction, he went unsold as no franchise showed interest in him.
MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina share a great camaraderie. So much so, that after Dhoni announced retirement from international cricket, Raina also followed suit. According to the latest reports, Raina may call it time and retire from all forms of cricket before the end of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The former CSK batsman has played 205 IPL games with 5,528 runs and 139 half-centuries to go with it.
