The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has always set great examples when it comes to supporting their players specifically in tougher times.
The BCCI has done the same in the case of Rishabh Pant as they are making sure that the young wicketkeeper gets all possible support from them.
Rishabh Pant won’t face any financial losses as BCCI confirms full salary
Team India’s wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant met with a deadly car accident on December 30 when he was driving back home to Roorkee from Delhi and suffered several injuries. Pant underwent successful knee surgery at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and will take some time to recover before he can again represent the Indian team.
Rishabh Pant won’t be able to participate in this year’s IPL as he might take around 6 months to recover from his injuries. In his difficult phase, BCCI have extended their firm support to the young wicketkeeper as they have announced that Rishabh will get paid his 16 Crore IPL Salary by the board in full despite Pant missing out on the complete IPL season. The board will also pay him his 5 Crore central contract payments in full.
The 25-year-old was airlifted from Dehradun’s Max hospital to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in order to undergo knee surgery. Pant has suffered two tears on his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) due to which he will remain out of action for at least six months.
As per the BCCI norms, any Indian player who misses out on an IPL season due to injuries is paid by the board and not by the respective franchise. Hence, BCCI has made sure that Rishabh Pant doesn’t face any financial losses and gets paid his IPL salary along with the central contract payment.
Rishabh Pant can be a crucial part of Team India’s squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup which is scheduled this year in October-November. The BCCI is thus making sure that Pant recovers from his injuries as soon as possible and doesn’t face any issues during the treatment.
