Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa was present at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai during IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 to support his former side CSK. A cricket fan questioned his loyalty for KKR as he tweeted in support of CSK after which the former batter came up with a hard-hitting reply.

Robin Uthappa’s hard-hitting tweet goes viral on social media

Robin Uthappa shared a picture with his son on May 23 wearing yellow jerseys in support of the Chennai Super Kings. He captioned the post,“Let’s go @ChennaiIPL!!”

One of the Twitter users questioned his loyalty for the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise as he tweeted,“Bro played one-two seasons with Chennai and sold his soul I have never seen him supporting KKR like this”

Uthappa quickly came up with a strong response as he wrote, “Loyalty and respect is a give and take my friend!!”

It’s worth noting that, Robin Uthappa has represented six franchises in IPL including the Kolkata Knight Riders. He played for KKR from 2014 to 2019 and also lifted the IPL trophy during his first season with them when the team won their second IPL title under Gautam Gambhir.

Robin Uthappa is among the leading run-scorers in the history of the cash-rich league. He scored 4,952 runs in 205 games at a strike rate of 130.55, including 27 half-centuries. He finished with 660 runs in 16 games when KKR lifted their second IPL trophy in 2014.

Uthappa was probably hurt by the way KKR treated him in the past despite being a match-winner for them. Kolkata Knight Riders chose Dinesh Karthik over Robin Uthappa in the captaincy race for IPL 2018 before eventually releasing him in the year 2019.

The aggressive batter was then bought by Rajasthan Royals during IPL 2020 before being transferred to Chennai Super Kings. He played for the latter team for the next two seasons before announcing his retirement. He was part of the CSK team when they lifted their fourth IPL trophy in 2021.

Robin Uthappa delivered some good knocks for CSK during his limited opportunities for the franchise. He scored 63 off 44 balls against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 and then remained unbeaten on 31 off 15 as CSK won the IPL 2021 final by 27 runs.
