Rohit Sharma gives injury update, hints he might not play the 5th Test

While batting in the 4th test, Rohit Sharma suffered some bruises on his thighs and also had some issue with his left knee.

After playing the match-changing knock of 127 runs, Rohit Sharma wasn’t seen on the field on the last two days of the 4th test. This worried the fans and later it was revealed that Rohit is having some issues with his left knee. Though the player didn’t take the field during the last innings, he was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his first overseas test hundred. During the presentation ceremony when Rohit Sharma was asked about his injury, he did give out an update.

Rohit said that he was feeling good but the Physio has advised him to not look too far. The 5th test is just in 3 day’s time and India could be in trouble if Rohit is unavailable. It is worth mentioning that Rohit Sharma is in good touch with the bat. He has already scored two 50s and a hundred in the series. The fans would be hoping to hear a positive update on Rohit Sharma’s injury soon.

“It looks good at the moment. The message from the physio is ‘assess every minute, don’t look too far ahead,” Rohit said during the presentation ceremony.

Rohit Sharma also said that he was not thinking of the hundred but rather was focusing on the situation. Contributing to the team is important and to be able to do that made him glad, he stated.

India leads 2-1 in the 5-match test series

After suffering an innings defeat at Leeds, the Indian team came back strong and won the 4th test convincingly. The 4th test was even special as it was after 50 years that India won a test in Oval. The series now stands 2-1 and India just needs to draw the 5th test to take the series. With the series at stake, the England side would be under extreme pressure as India go in as the favourites into the 5th test. Rohit Sharma’s injury would be the only concern for the Indians ahead of the upcoming test.

Netizens are already predicting the Manchester Test to be a draw owing to the weather forecast. The first two days of the 5th test are predicted to be rain-affected with 80 and 60 per cent chances of rain, respectively.

The Indian fans would still be hoping for Rohit Sharma to play the 5th test as he has looked comfortable against the England bowlers so far.
