The cricket fraternity has witnessed quite an El Clasico between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a high-scoring run-fest as both teams flexed the muscles when it mattered, albeit there were some patches were both teams slowed down a bit. Nevertheless, both teams seized fancied their chances and in the end, CSK had the last laugh in the battle as they were tactically better. During the game, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma hogged the limelight for their contributions to their respective teams.

When MS Dhoni came out to bat in the third ball of the 20th over of CSK innings, the former CSK captain came out with an intention to make every ball count. Much to everyone’s expectations, the veteran cricketer launched three consecutive sixes off Hardik Pandya’s bowling, sending the Wankhede crowd into frenzy.

MS Dhoni opened his account with a six over the long-off and then he followed it up with a powerful six towards the wide long-on region. He perfectly completed his hat-trick by launching another six over the deep square leg. Former MI captain Rohit Sharma was not taken aback by MS Dhoni’s brutal hitting off Hardik Pandya but his priceless reaction to the blistering cameo has gone viral on the internet.

 

Batting first, the Yellow Army posted a challenging total of 206 for the loss of 4 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. The five-time IPL champions started the game at a sedate pace, scoring 48 runs in the powerplay overs. However, as the game progressed, they accelerated the scoring rate, courtesy of Shivam Dube (66 off 38) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (69 off 40) as the duo added a 90-run stand for the third wicket.

In response, MI started off really well by scoring runs at a rate of knots, courtesy of the opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as the duo added 70 runs. However, after Ishan Kishan’s departure, MI slowed down a bit in the chase as they could muster 186/6 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma won every MI’s fan heart by scoring his second IPL century as he remained unbeaten on 105 off 63 balls (11 fours, 5 sixes).
