Team India’s top order collapsed against Australian pacers on Day 2 of the WTC final at the Kennington Oval allowing Australia to get into the driver’s seat. Star batter Virat Kohli too was dismissed cheaply and was seen enjoying a meal right after his dismissal which didn’t go well with the cricket fans on Twitter.

The Australian side posted a mammoth total of 469 in their first innings after which the Men in Blue badly needed a good start from the top order. However, the top 4 Indian batters including Virat Kohli couldn’t score big making things worse for the Indian Team.

Kohli got off to a good start as he faced 30 deliveries and scored 14 runs including 2 impressive boundaries. Just when it looked like Virat had set his eyes in, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc bowled an excellent bouncer around the off-stump channel, and the ball made contact with Kohli’s gloves after which Steve Smith took a pretty simple catch at the slips.

Virat Kohli looked pretty disappointed as he took the long walk back to the pavilion. Indian cricket fans too couldn’t believe what they had seen as they were expecting Virat to continue his good form and play a big knock for his side in the WTC final.

However, just after some time, Kohli was seen enjoying a meal while he was having a conversation with Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and batting coach Vikram Rathore. Netizens criticized Virat Kohli as he was casually grabbing a bite while the whole nation was disappointed as Team India were in a spot of bother in the WTC 2023 final.

Cricket fans also compared him with veteran batter Sachin Tendulkar as one of the Twitter users wrote,“Sachin didn’t eat for 3 days after getting out early in World Cup 2003.” Here are some reactions of Twitter users.

It’s worth noting that Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed after scoring just 4 runs in the ODI World Cup 2003 final off Glenn McGrath’s bowling. His early dismissal allowed Australia to get into the driver’s seat as they eventually defeated Team India by 125 runs.

Virat Kohli’s early dismissal in the first innings of the WTC 2023 final against Mitchell Starc could have the same impact as Australia is in a dominant position in the game. At the end of Day 2, the Indian Team is placed at a score of 151-5 trailing behind Australia’s total by 318 runs.
