MS Dhoni and his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, were back in the spotlight on social media after they celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on July 4, 2025. The power couple tied the nuptial knot on the same day 15 years ago, in 2010.

Their wedding was also a private affair, held at a resort near Dehradun with only close friends and family in attendance. Meanwhile, as fans joined in to wish the couple well, many also took the opportunity to celebrate Dhoni’s illustrious cricketing journey.

Sakshi Dhoni marked the memorable occasion with a heartfelt post on social media that grabbed the attention of the cricket fraternity. She took to her official micro-blogging Instagram handle and posted a touching picture of the two holding hands, along with a sweet message. The caption of the post reads, “We made a promise! Onto 16th.” The heartwarming picture reflected the bond the couple has built over the years.

Widely regarded as one of India’s most successful captains, MS Dhoni is the only skipper to win all three ICC white-ball tournaments, namely the T20 World Cup in 2007 (South Africa), the ODI World Cup in 2011 (India), and the Champions Trophy in 2013 (England).

For the record, MS Dhoni played his final international match for India in the 2019 ICC World Cup semifinal against New Zealand, where he scored a fighting fifty. India fell short by 18 runs in that match, and a month later, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, through a post on Instagram.

Since retiring from international cricket, Dhoni has continued to be a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The cricketing brain has been one of the backbones of Chennai Super Kings’ history. Under his tutelage, CSK became a force to be reckoned with in the IPL as they won as many as five trophies and two Champions League T20 titles (now defunct).

CSK retained the veteran for INR 4 crore ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction. During the 2025 season, he played all 14 league matches and returned as captain midway after an injury ruled out Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Despite his comeback as captain, CSK endured a difficult season and finished at the bottom of the points table for the first time. As things stand, speculation around Dhoni’s retirement from IPL is still doing the rounds, but no official announcement has been made so far.
