Sam Curran to miss remainder of IPL & entire T20 World Cup 2021, England names replacement

The England all-rounder will miss the IPL 2021 & T20 World Cup owing to a back injury.

Chennai Super Kings has been performing exceptionally well in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The team has maintained their position in the Top 2 ever since the tournament started. All the players have given their best to reach where they are right now. However, in a new development, an important member of the CSK setup, Sam Curran is going to miss the remainder of the league.

The CSK camp is in a safe place at the moment with 18 points in their kitty in the 13 games they have played. Sam Curran, who has been a consistent performer for CSK complained of back pain after their game against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. The England player was taken for a scan and the results showed that the cricketer had a back injury.

Sam Curran set to miss IPL and T20 World Cup

This will be a big blow for Sam Curran as he is not just going to miss the remainder of IPL, but also the entire T20 World Cup 2021, which is going to start from 17th October in UAE. Team England has announced the replacement for the cricketer and it is going to be his elder brother Tom Curran who will replace Sam Curran.

The news was shared by Chennai Super Kings and England Cricket Board on their official twitter handles. Sam Curran will be flying back home in the next two days where the cricketer will be treated. The England Cricket Board wished him a speedy recovery in their Twitter update. The T20 World Cup is just around the corner and Sam Curran will definitely miss playing in the marquee event.

As for CSK, they have already qualified for the playoffs. In fact, they were the first team to do so in this edition of the tournament. They have one more game left in the league stage against Punjab Kings and if they win the last game, they will have 20 points.
