Team India’s former opener Murali Vijay is in all sorts of headlines after he announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket on January 30.
Murali Vijay has now come up with a strong tweet after fomer Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar had trolled him for having stats better than Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma in the test format.

Team India is facing Australia in the first test of the four-match test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. While playing in the subcontinent conditions, conversion ratio becomes a crucial factor specifically for top order batters.
During the first day of first test between India and Australia, a stat was shown about conversion rate in subcontinent conditions. Murali Vijay topped the list with a conversion rate of as high as 60% while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have a conversion rate of 50% and 52% respectively.
Sanjay Manjrekar was amazed when these stats were displayed and commented on air, “I am surprised to see Murali Vijay at the top of this list.”
Murali Vijay didn’t like Manjrekar’s comment on his stats as he took to twitter on February 10 and posted a hard-hitting tweet against the former opener. Vijay wrote,”Some Mumbai ex players can never be appreciative of the south !

Vijay got support from cricket fans on Twitter as they too didn’t like Manjrekar’s comment. Murali Vijay played 30 tests in India and scored 9 hundreds and 6 fifties. His conversion rate of 60% proves how well he contributed as a top order batter during his career.
It’s worth noting that Murali Vijay is one of the most underrated Indian opener as he never got as much appreciation for his contribution as an opener as he deserved. His batting average of 38.29 clearly prove how good a batter he was in both home and away conditions.
The former opener was sidelined after just a few failures in the longest format of the game. On January 30, he announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
