The sixth season of the Pakistan Super League was postponed after as many as seven players/officials were tested positive. A bio-bubble breach was initiated by Daren Sammy and Wahab Riaz who met their franchise owner Javed Afridi in February. However, after a long wait, PCB is finally going to resume the league in UAE. The players have already started flying to the destination, but Sarfaraz Ahmed and few other members were denied clearance to travel.

Pakistan Cricket Board has planned to stage the remainder of the sixth edition of the PSL in UAE. Although the plans have been made, it is proving to be very difficult for the Pakistan Board to make all the necessary arrangements, especially the traveling ones. After shifting the tournament out of the country, the board need to send the players urgently, so that the league could be started in the first week of June itself.

Sarfaraz Ahmed denied clearance

Amidst all the travel arrangements, PCB announced that a total of 16 members will be flying to UAE in a commercial flight, however their plans fell apart after only 5 players could board the flight and make it to Abu Dhabi. The rest of the 11 players including Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed were not given clearance to board the flight and this incident really upset the captain and the other members of the squad.

As stated by the website, ‘Cricket Pakistan,’ the board is now arranging a chartered flight for the players. Sarfaraz Ahmed was not a happy man after the episode which left him, and his team members stuck at the airport and eventually they had to return to their hotels.
