Young Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan got married on August 6 in a small private function in Kashmir in a pretty secret manner. Sarfaraz Khan’s wife, Romana Zahoor is a resident of the Shopian district in Jammu & Kashmir and their wedding took place in Pashpora village.

Here’s how Sarfaraz Khan’s wife Romana Zahoor met him for the first time

Sarfaraz Khan’s wife, Romana Zahoor first met with the Mumbai-based cricketer in Delhi. Romana was studying for her MSc in Delhi, with Sarfaraz Khan’s cousin and had gone to watch a cricket match with her and met Sarfaraz.

Their love story started in Delhi and soon after their first meeting the young batter decided to marry Romana. Sarfaraz shared his wedding picture along with his wife on his official Instagram account with the caption, “Alhamdulillah married”

Soon after his wedding function took place in the Shopian district in Jammu & Kashmir, his wedding pictures and videos have been shared on various social media platforms. A number of Indian cricketers including Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel congratulated him replying to his Instagram post.

The Almighty had decided my destiny: Sarfaraz Khan

“The Almighty had decided that it was my destiny to get married in Kashmir. I have received a lot of love here and whenever I have time I will visit here,” Sarfaraz said to a local news portal after his wedding on August 6.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old batter was also asked about him being not selected for Team India despite his consistent performances in domestic cricket. Sarfaraz had a pretty optimistic answer as he said, “The Almighty had written that I would get married here. In the same way if he has written that I will play for India, I will.”

Sarfaraz Khan has been one of the most prolific batters in the domestic circuit for the past four years. The Mumbai-based batter scored 556 runs in 6 games at an average of 92.66 in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy campaign with the help of 3 centuries. In the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy season, he had scored 982 runs at an average of 122.75.

However, despite his consistent run in the domestic circuit, specifically in the longer format of the game, Sarfaraz is yet to get his maiden Team India call. The previous selection committee led by Chetan Sharma had faced immense criticism for not picking Sarfaraz Khan in the Indian test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia while giving priority to IPL performers.
