Scott Styris advises MS Dhoni to announce IPL retirement in advance; Here’s why

IPL 2033 is anticipated to be MS Dhoni’s last season in the cash-rich league. Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris, who has also been a part of the CSK team in the past, wants MS Dhoni to announce IPL retirement in advance as he deserves a farewell tour around the country.

The MS Dhoni-led CSK side defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs in their seventh IPL 2023 game on April 23 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Despite being an away game for CSK, the team received immense support as most of the fans had turned up wearing CSK jerseys to cheer for MS Dhoni.

Cricket fans have ensured that Dhoni experiences a great reception everytime he has stepped on the field in IPL 2023. After the CSK vs KKR game, former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris spoke about MS Dhoni’s retirement on JioCinema.

“I think he wouldn’t be playing now if he wasn’t in love of being in the dressing room. I hope that whenever he decides to hang up the bat, whether it’s now, or next season or many seasons later, that he announces it, because he deserves a farewell tour around the country,” Scott Styris said on JioCinema.

“He has been a great servant of Indian cricket and the IPL. This will give everyone a chance to show their appreciation to Dhoni for his contributions not just for Indian cricket but for world cricket as well,” the former New Zealand all-rounder appreciated Dhoni’s contribution.

It’s worth noting that MS Dhoni wanted to play his last IPL in front of the Chennai crowd in Chepauk. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CSK couldn’t play at Chepauk for the last three years but in IPL 2023 Dhoni has finally got the chance to play in front of his home crowd.

After the CSK vs KKR game, MS Dhoni thanked his fans at the Eden Gardens for as they came in big numbers to cheer for him. He had also quoted that these fans are trying to give him a farewell.

Dhoni had mentioned after CSK’s sixth game against Sunrisers Hyderabad that it’s the last phase of his career and it’s important for him to enjoy it. CSK are currently placed at the top of the points table as they will expect to finish the league stage on a high note and qualify for the playoffs.
