Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi’s fiery spell in the WT20 2021 will go down as one of the most memorable highlights in the India-Pakistan cricketing saga. And from the looks of it, the Indian cricket team won’t be hearing the end of it anytime soon.
Afridi’s fiery spell knocks India out of the World Cup
In their opening World Cup encounter against Pakistan, the Indian openers looked completely out of shape against Afridi’s spicy swing bowling. Rohit Sharma became his first victim, as the Indian vice-captain fell prey to a sharp, full-length, in-swinging delivery that trapped him Leg-Before-Wicket (LBW) plumb in front of the stumps. His partner, KL Rahul, soon joined him back in the hut, as Afridi bowled him clean with a trenchant length delivery.
If it wasn’t for captain Virat Kohli’s resilient 57-run innings, the men-in-blue wouldn’t have even managed to get to a fighting total. But it was Afridi who had the final laugh yet again, as he outfoxed Kohli with a clever slower-bouncer. With stunning figures of 4-0-31-3, Afridi had done an extraordinary job in restricting India to an under-par score.

If it wasn’t clear from Afridi’s passionate celebrations how much he savored those wickets, spectators at the Pakistan-Scotland match got a good estimate of his emotions. During Pakistan’s last league stage encounter at Sharjah, fans from the Stadium tried to get a rise out of the lanky left-arm quick by cheering Rohit, Rahul, and Kohli’s names.

Afridi, who was fielding at the boundary at that time, took the jibes in good fun, and enacted each of the three batsmen’s dismissals. From getting Rohit Sharma out LBW to getting KL Rahul bowled to a pace delivery- and getting Virat Kohli to nick one back to the wicket-keeper. The good-natured Afridi had all the moves to entertain his fans. Here’s the video of Afridi performing his moves from Sharjah.
