In the latest development, it has been confirmed that Bangladesh’s experienced campaigner, Shakib Al Hasan will be missing Bangladesh’s last game of their ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. The veteran all-rounder recently hogged the limelight after he made a timed-out appeal to the on-field umpires, which led to Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews becoming the first batsman in the history of international cricket to be dismissed timed-out.
Bangladesh who were already eliminated from World Cup 2023 played for pride and churned out a winning result against Sri Lanka. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 279 runs on the board. On the contrary, Bangladesh aced the run-chase in 41.1 overs and won the game by 3 wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Shakib Al Hasan to miss the upcoming game against Australia
Shakib Al Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round masterclass in the recently concluded game against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh all-rounder took two wickets in his quota of 10 overs. Besides that, he scored an unbeaten 82 off 65 balls with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 126.15.
Shakib has been ruled out of the upcoming game against Australia due to a fractured left index finger. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Anamul Haque as Shakib’s replacement. The Tigers will lock horns with the Aussies on November 11, Saturday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
Bangladesh’s physio by the name of Bayjedul Islam Khan provided information on Shakib Al Hasan’s injury. He echoed that the veteran picked up the injury during the initial phase of his batting against Sri Lanka. He further added that Shakib’s recovery is estimated up to four weeks and that he will undergo his rehab from today.

“Shakib was struck on his left index finger early in his innings but continued to bat with supportive taping and painkillers. He underwent an emergency X-ray in Delhi after the game, which confirmed the fracture on the left PIP joint. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks. He will leave for Bangladesh today to begin his rehab,” Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan added.
