During the 2nd India-West Indies T20I, the Indian batting sensation Shubman Gill was criticized badly for claiming a false catch. The incident took place when he was stationed at the first slip during the bowling of Ravi Bishnoi. The netizens are trolling him big time as he was the victim false catch during the WTC Final.

It was the time when Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer were drifting this game away from India. Captain Hardik Pandya went to his leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi with an attacking field during the 13th over of the innings.

The plan almost went right for the Indians as Bishnoi did manage to find the outside edge of Hetmyer’s bat. The ball came right towards Shubman’s way who was waiting for that one opportunity. However, the ball landed just before the hands of Gill but the youngster celebrated the catch confidently.

Shubman’s confidence made every player of the Indian team think that the catch is fairly taken and Hetmyer also started walking. However the visual showed a completely different story as the ball was clearly bouncing off the ground before landing in Gill’s hand.

After everyone saw the visuals on TV, the youngster was darted with mocking tweets and comments on social media. Several netizens questioned the young man’s sportsman spirit. Several users even made him rethink the time he was given out due to an unfair catch claim by Cameron Green in the WTC 2023 Finals. A frustrated Gill had taken a dig at Cameron Green.

A few months back during the WTC Finals at the Oval Shubman Gill was given out by the on-field umpire when Green claimed a catch similar to what Shubhman himself did against West Indies. Fans all over the world bashed the Australian team for the incident.

Gill’s batting woes continue against the Windies

One of the best young talents around the world Shubman has struggled to pile up runs against a formidably weak Windies bowling lineup throughout the tour. Starting with the Test format he displayed a form when everyone in the Indian top order manage to bag runs.

He only scored 45 runs in the 2 tests he played during the series. Following the poor test series the youngster did manage to make up by scoring 126 runs in 3 ODIs. Coming onto the T20s Gill has been completely out of touch with the bat scoring only 10 runs in the 2 matches so far.
