21-year-old India opener Shubman Gill is among one of the most hyped cricketers in the country. The Fazilka-born batsman has been quite a sensation among his passionate fans ever since he and his colleagues emerged victorious in the 2018 edition of the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
Shubman Gill is one of the most talked-about players in the Indian team
But it wasn’t until he made his debut in senior division international cricket that Gill really established himself as a cricketing heartthrob for younger fans. Shubman’s dextrous batting technique has received applause from many a pundit in the cricketing fraternity. Add to that several impressive knocks he has played with the bat for team India and the Kolkata Knight Riders; it becomes self-explanatory as to why Shubman has been touted as such a promising prospect by his fans.
Shubman Gill is currently quarantining with the rest of his India teammates in Mumbai before they depart to England to compete in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand. Shubman has been engaging with his fans on Instagram through several stories and poll-based activities in his free time. However, in one of his recent posts, Shubman opened up about his relationship status- a hot question that has been intriguing fans for quite some time now. And his insights on the matter left a whole lot of fans stumped.
Shubman Gill on his relationship status
Shubman has long been rumored to be in a relationship with Sara, daughter of legendary India batsman Sachin Tendulkar. The basis for such speculation comes from the numerous times Sara has heaped praise on Shubman’s batting performances through her social accounts. Shubman, on his part too, has been quite active in reacting amicably to several of Sara’s social media posts; leading many fans to believe that the couple is currently involved in a relationship.
But now it seems that all those rumors about Shubman and Sara were false hearsay after all. On Friday night, ShubmanGill gave a public answer on his AMA to one of his fans asking if he were single. “Oh yes! I am. I have no plans of cloning myself in the near future, either”, Shubman wrote in his story.

For as smartly as he deflected off the question about his relationship status, Shubman and his Indian fans would be eagerly hoping for him to return to his prolific run-scoring ways ASAP. The last couple of months haven’t been particularly rewarding Shubman on the run-scoring front. After enduring a lukewarm test series with the bat against England, Shubman’s form didn’t see much of an improvement in the IPL series he featured in. And while Shubman might not have been engaged in any real romantic relationship; he would’ve certainly felt disappointed when TV presenter Scott Styris publically announced his breakup with Shubman on the Star Sports Dugout show.
“It’s not me- it’s you, Shubman. I keep backing you to score runs and win matches only for you to play poor shots and break my heart again”, Styris had joked over on one of his Dugout stints.
