India’s talented prospect Shubman Gill has been constantly making waves with the bat for the last few years. He took his batting to the next level in the ongoing calendar year. Notably, he is the first and only player to have completed 1000 runs so far in 2023, which goes to show how he has improved as a batsman. He has scored 1230 runs in 20 appearances this year wherein he hammered 5 centuries, 5 fifties and a solitary double century.

The right-handed batter was recently seen in cricketing action during the second ODI against Australia in Indore. After scoring 74 in the first ODI in Mohali, he continued his amazing form in the second game in Indore wherein he brought his sixth ODI century. He paced his innings with six fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease before he fell prey to Cameron Green’s bowling.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya who missed the first two games will be back for the final ODI.

Meanwhile, in the latest development, Shubman Gill will not be available for the Rajkot ODI. As per the report on Indian Express, the likes of Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur will not mark their presence for the last game. The duo will not fly to Rajkot as they have been rested by the Indian team management. Both players will join the Indian camp in Guwahati for India’s first warm-up match for the World Cup.

“Luckily we got a fair amount of cricket at the Asia Cup. If not, we would’ve looked at it some other way. More than physical, sometimes guys need a mental break, which isn’t a bad thing leading into a tournament like the World Cup,” BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar told the reporters recently.
