South Africa and Bangladesh are set to square off in their first ODI match in nearly 3 years’ time; as the latter embark on a month-long tour to face the Proteas in their home turf for 3 ODIs and 2 test matches. Read on to find out more about the live streaming and telecast details of South Africa vs Bangladesh 2022 ODI and Test series.
Good opportunity for transitioning South Africa
Hosts South Africa would be eager to build on the strong winning momentum they acquired a few months back during their comprehensive 3-0 whitewash over India. This is still a team in transition, so a lot of upcoming players like Kyle Verreyne, Janneman Malan, and Zubayr Hamza would be eager to leave lasting impressions. Captain Temba Bavuma will certainly have his tasks cut out, and would be looking for constant inputs from the experienced likes of Wayne Parnell, Andile Pheklukwayo, and David Miller.
Having said that, it would be interesting to see how much committed some of the marquee South Africa players would be for this assignment. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, and Marco Jansen- among five other top players- all have IPL contracts to their names, and their respective teams would be eager to see them fit and raring. So expect the South Africa players to be a bit careful about their fitness and physical capacities during the course of these 3 games, which could inadvertently end up being a strong advantage for their Bangladeshi rivals.
Plenty of opportunities for Bangladesh to assert their dominance
Speaking of whom, Bangladesh arrived onto the South African shores at the back of plenty of drama around the availability of their star all-rounder, Shakib al Hasan. From the offset, it does look like he has made a full recovery from the mental stress and fatigue which had been accompanying his cricket sojourns for a while now; so that would be a major boost for the Tigers.
Much like the Proteas, a lot of young players in the Bangladesh camp would also be waiting for this opportunity to make a strong case for themselves. The likes of Afif Hossain, Yasir Ali, Shanto Hossein, Joy Hasan, Ebadot Hossein, and many several other young players will eager to get some game time in these 3 ODIs. At the same time, senior players like Mushfiqir Rahim, Mahmudullah, Shakib, and Tamim Iqbal- the incumbent captain of the team- would have to guide the talent and promise around them with patience and maturity.
2 players who’ll have a great chance of establishing themselves on this tour would be Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed. While both these players have been touted highly-talented for a while now- and rightfully so- it’s performances in challenging away series like these that will take their reputation to the next level. As far as the IPL is concerned, left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman is the only player who has a contract, so he will also be eager to get some game time ahead of the grand tournament.
