England have defeated Pakistan by 3-0 in their home soil which has put some question marks on Babar Azam’s leadership skills.

Amidst all the criticism, a former Pakistan player has said that people should stop comparing Babar Azam to Virat Kohli as he is nowhere close to what Virat has achieved.

Danish Kaneria slams Babar Azam’s leadership skills

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam faced some criticism for his defensive captaincy during the T20 World Cup in Australia. The criticism has grown louder after Pakistan’s 3-0 defeat against England in their home conditions. Former Pakistan leg spinner Danish Kaneria slammed Azam’s leadership skills while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“People should stop comparing Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are very big players. Pakistan have nobody in their team who can be compared to them. If you make them talk, they will be a king. When you ask them to produce results, they’ll be zero,” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

“Babar Azam is a big zero as captain. He doesn’t deserve to lead the team. He is not capable of leading the team, especially when it comes to Test cricket. He had a good chance of learning captaincy by looking at Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum during the series. Or, he could have kept his ego aside and asked Sarfaraz Ahmed how to captain,” he further added.

Babar Azam played really well in the Karachi Test scoring half-centuries in both innings on a rather difficult surface but it’s his captaincy that gets questioned every now and then as his tactics are considered to be defensive and not in favor of the team’s cause.

The English side kept playing with their aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach to which the Pakistan skipper had no solution throughout the three-match test series. England became the first team to complete a 3-0 Test series sweep in Pakistan and that too in a rather convincing manner. All English batters constantly kept playing their shots as if they were batting in ODI mode as Team England completed a historic whitewash which has now put some question marks on Babar Azam’s leadership skills.
