Sydney Cricket Ground Pitch Report for AUS vs ENG 2nd ODI and Ground Records at SCG

SCG is scheduled to host the 2nd match of the ongoing ODI series between Australia and England on November 19.

Fresh off a convincing T20 WC 2022 triumph, Jos Buttler and his troops are participating in a 3 match away ODI series against the Kangaroos. Sydney Cricket Ground is scheduled to host the 2nd match of the series on November 19, and the pitch report for it is shared here.

The Australians will be high on confidence after a 6 wicket win in the 1st ODI against England while the latter will look for an improved performance after a collective failure (except Malan and Willey) on 17 November.

ENG vs AUS 2nd ODI: Sydney Cricket Ground pitch report

The pitch report for Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is rather uncharacteristic for a stadium situated Down Under. Though there obviously is some help for the Pacers, the spinners too play a significant role as match progresses. Same was reflected by Tabraiz Shamsi and Mitchell Santner’s 3-fers in the recently concluded T20 WC.

The square boundaries are small compared to other Australian cricket grounds. The bowlers will look to bowl fuller lengths to deny the batsmen regular big hits.

Ground records at SCG and Weather Forecast

Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has hosted 161 ODIs thus far. While 91 such matches have been won batting first, the side batting 2nd has came out trumps on 63 occasions. Batting 1st is advantageous, crystal clear.

Total ODIs held: 161

No Result: 07

ODIs won batting first: 91

ODIs won batting 2nd: 63

Incidentally, the highest ever ODI total also came from the side batting first (SA) when Mr. 360° turned on EA Cricket Mode and smacked a boundary-laden 162* off 66.

Major individual ODI records at the SCG are shared here:

Most Runs: Allan Border (1561)

Highest Individual Score: Steve Smith (164)

Most Wickets: Glenn McGrath (50)

Best Bowling Figures: Greg Chappell (5 for 15)
