Worcestershire defeated Derbyshire by 28 runs in the Vitality T20 Blast 2023 game at the County Ground in Derby on July 2. In the Worcestershire vs Derbyshire clash, young pacer Zaman Khan bowled a toe-crushing yorker to get rid of opening batter Jack Hynes who had no answer to the unplayable delivery.

Jack Hynes along with his opening partner Brett D’Oliveira provided the kind of start that the Worcestershire side needed. D’Oliveira was dismissed in the 4th over but Hynes kept playing his shots till the 12th over.

Right-arm pacer Zaman Khan came in to bowl the 13th over of Worcestershire innings and bowled two dot balls upfront against Mitchell Santner. Hynes got the strike back on the 4th delivery of Zaman’s over as he looked to keep the momentum going in his side’s favor.

However, Zaman Khan had different plans as he bowled a toe-crushing yorker aimed at the middle stump. Jack Hynes tried defending it but couldn’t make any contact with the ball as his stumps got shattered with the unplayable delivery and he took the long walk back after scoring 44 runs off just 32 deliveries.

The Pakistan-based pacer is known for his unconventional bowling action. He sometimes gets compared with legendary pacer Lasith Malinga, who was known for his death-bowling skills, courtesy of his ability to bowl incredible yorkers.

Zaman Khan also took the wicket of keeper-batter Ben Cox and eventually finished with the figures of 4-29 in his four-over spell. Despite his brilliant effort with the ball, Worcestershire put on a mammoth total of 222-5 in their 20 overs.

Mitchell Santner played a heroic knock of 64 runs off just 46 deliveries including 4 boundaries and 5 maximums. Adam Hose too played a breathtaking knock of 42 runs in just 21 balls including 2 fours and 3 maximums.

In response to the massive total, Derbyshire too got off to a positive start as Harry Came scored 43 runs off just 29 deliveries. Wayne Madsen made a quick-fire 63 runs off just 32 deliveries including 6 fours and 3 sixes.
