Marnus Labuschagne made headlines for grabbing an outrageous catch during the English T20 Blast 2024 season. In the Glamorgan vs. Gloucestershire match on June 20, the Australian cricketer made an amazing effort to send Gloucestershire batter Ben Charlesworth packing.

While chasing 140 runs, Gloucestershire were 4 wickets down at 45 runs. Marnus Labuschagne ensured their collapse continued. In the 10th over, Charlesworth received a ball in his slot and attempted to smack it down the ground. Just as it seemed the ball would go for a one-bounce boundary, Labuschagne made a full-stretch dive and grabbed the ball with one hand.

No one had expected Labuschagne to suddenly appear in the frame, and viewers, commentators, and his teammates were all left stunned. ‘That is one of the greatest catches you will ever see,’ one of the commentators went on to exclaim.

Labuschagne’s catch put Glamorgan in a strong position while defending a low score. However, Jack Taylor was determined to take Gloucestershire over the line. He remained firm at one end as wickets fell around him. He played an unbeaten knock of 70 runs in Gloucestershire’s incredible chase. Josh Shaw emerged as the hero in the end, smashing a six when 5 runs were required off the last ball. With this, Gloucestershire claimed a thrilling 2-wicket win.

Despite the defeat, Marnus Labuschagne’s catch in T20 Blast 2024 became a talking point. Meanwhile, following his omission from Australia’s T20 World Cup squad, Marnus has decided to continue his stint with the English county side Glamorgan. The Aussie has been part of the team since 2019, and in this Vitality Blast season, he has scored 119 runs in six matches, with a highest score of 58.
