After the completion of the Indian Premier League, team India will now focus on their bilateral series they are going to play against South Africa this month. An 18-member Indian squad was announced by BCCI recently for the 5-match T20I series against the Proteas. The Proteas also announced their squad which didn’t include Dewald Brewis who had a decent outing with Mumbai Indians in the IPL. This surprised a lot of people and Temba Bavuma explains that the young cricketer will have to wait for his first international match.

Dewald Brevis is fondly known as ‘Baby AB’ because of the range of shots that he possesses. His range was on display in the IPL and there was a lot of chatter regarding his debut in the series against India. Contrary to the speculations, Temba Bavuma explains that the team didn’t want to include Brewis in the squad without ample preparation and that’s the reason why he is not going to be part of South Africa’s tour of India.

“In all fairness to him, he hasn’t played a first-class game. In terms of expectation but also allowing the boy to grow within his game, it would be fair to allow him to play a couple of first-class games where he can really get an understanding of his game. It will be a lot of pressure to throw him into the international set up and expect him to make plays,” said SA skipper as Temba Bavuma explains Brewis’s omission from the squad.
