The cricket fraternity was taken aback after English television personality, Chris Hughes tried to flirt with Australian woman cricketer Maitlan Brown. The unexpected incident took place during England’s The Hundred tournament when the English model crossed his limits by complimenting the woman cricketer, in a rather unusual manner.

The drama unfolded when the former Love Island contestant was roped in to conduct sideline interviews in the opening game of The Hundred. The video clip begins with Chris Hughes interviewing Maitlan Brown about the game before the sideline interview went totally off the plot for a moment. The 26-year-old woman cricketer talked about her team (Southern Brave) and the bonding activities.

The franchise cricket leagues play a crucial role in bringing players from different nations together and fostering bonds among them. Talking about the team’s bonding from behind the scenes, Maitlan Brown mentioned how the team watched the movie “Barbie” together as she highlighted the importance of bonding which has paved the way for the team’s success.

“We watched Barbie the other night altogether and it was really good team bonding and the group is gelling really well together. That is the key to success I think in tournaments like this, how well and how quickly you can gel as a group,” said Australian cricketer Maitlan Brown in a video shared by Somersetpodcast.

Meanwhile, Chris Hughes took everyone by surprise with an unexpected reply. He said, You’re a little Barbie yourself, aren’t you, with your blue eyes.” As Brown laughed, the English host added, “She’s blushing now.” Hughes came under fire for his remarks as the netizens launched a scathing attack on social media.

The incident caught the attention of the BBC spokesperson who went on to warn Chris Hughes of his remark. “We have spoken to Chris and explained that his comment was not appropriate.”

In 2017, Chris Hughes turned up on the third series of the ITV2 reality series Love Island. Since 2019, the 30-year-old has presented live horse racing coverage for ITV. From the ongoing calendar year, he has been presenting BBC Sport coverage of England’s The Hundred tournament.
