The ICC Mens ODI World Cup is the biggest tournament of cricket. Only a few players get the chance to feature in the World Cup squad of their nation as it is the highest level of cricket. Here is the list of the Top 5 Indian Cricketers who Never Played in the ICC Cricket World Cup.

India has lifted the trophy twice once in 1983 and their latest victory came in 2011. Until now 12 editions have taken place since 1975 in which Australia has won the title 5 times which is the most by any team.

In the 2011 triumph of India, a lot of talented names were dropped from the squad and they didn’t get the opportunity to feature in the world cup winnings team. Players like Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja, were sidelined by the selectors while selecting the Indian team.

However, Jadeja and Rohit got their chance of playing in the World Cup in the next edition but players like Ishant were left ignored. Let’s have a look at the big Indian players who haven’t played ODI World Cup.

Top 5 Indian Cricketers Who Never Played ODI Cricket World Cup

1. Irfan Pathan

The talented all-rounder from Baroda was a master at swing bowling with the new ball and was also an effective batter, especially in the death over. It’s a pity that even after playing 120 One-day internationals Irfan didn’t get the chance to feature in the ODI World Cup for once.

2. VVS Laxman

One of the finest wristy players of the cricket ball VVS Laxman was surprisingly not a successful white ball batter. Although VVS did play 86 ODIs for the Indian national team the latter failed to feature in the showpiece event even for once.

3. Ishant Sharma

One of the tallest bowlers India has ever produced Ishant Sharma was in the ODI scene of the Indian team during the time of the 2011 World Cup. Even after playing so many ODI series before the gala event BCCI sidelined him and picked Sreesanth over him.

The disappointment of not being featured in the 2011 World Cup winning team still haunts the Delhi-born fast bowler.

4. RP Singh

The swing specialist RP Singh who did wonders with the new ball in the T20 World Cup 2007 is also someone who hasn’t played a single ODI World Cup. His prime years were around the 2007 ODI World Cup where selectors overlooked him.
