The 27th match of the Indian Premier League was a nail-biting affair as fans were on the edge of their seats till the end. The rivalry between CSK and MI is not a new thing for the fans and it always offers stimulating contests to the cricket-lovers. Mumbai Indians opted to bowl first and Trent Boult provided the first breakthrough quite early in the inning. However, Boult was left fuming after Krunal Pandya messed up a straightforward delivery for a boundary.

The clash between CSK and MI saw both the teams scoring in excess of 200. Batsmen from both teams showed no mercy to the bowlers and took them to the cleaners every chance they got. Mumbai Indians got a good start after winning the toss as Trent Boult got the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad at the score of 4. However, it was the duo of Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis who started the run-fest.

In the sixth over of the inning, Moeen Ali whipped a full delivery backward of square on the on-side. The ball bounced awkwardly in front of Krunal Pandya who ran across from backward square leg. The all-rounder overran the ball and what should have been only a single turned into a boundary. Trent Boult was displeased with Krunal’s effort and could be seen fuming.

Earlier, Trent Boult almost got Moeen Ali in the third over of the inning when Ali pulled a short ball to deep square leg, however, the ball just fell short of Bumrah who was patrolling in that region. After Boult created this chance, the misfield by Krunal only amplified Boult’s fury. Twitter was abuzz after the incident where the users posted their reactions.

As for the result, Mumbai Indians came out victorious after a scintillating inning from Kieron Pollard who smashed 87 runs off just 34 deliveries, taking his team to yet another win against Chennai Super Kings. The power-hitter hit 8 huge sixes in the process with 6 fours to go with it. Pollard single-handedly turned the match into MI’s favour who at one point looked like losing the game. With this win, Mumbai Indians have got 8 points now and are at 4th position on the points table.
