Rinku Singh became an overnight sensation after he hammered 5 straight sixes off Yash Dayal’s bowling in the last over to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to a miraculous win over Gujarat Titans in the 16th edition of the IPL. Since then, Rinku Singh has been a fan favourite to many. He instilled a strong belief among the fans that he can be a lethal finisher, courtesy of his destructive batting abilities.

The left-handed batter rightfully earned a chance to represent the country. It didn’t take him much time to announce his arrival in international cricket. In his T20I debut innings against the Ireland cricket team, he showcased his mettle by coming out to bat at No.5. The KKR star impressed the fans by playing a fearless brand of cricket wherein he chipped in with 38 off 21 deliveries.

The 25-year-old Aligarh-born cricketer proved that he is a perfect T20I batting material by maintaining a strike rate of 180.95. He constructed his blazing innings with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes. The highlight of his masterful innings was when the fans chanted “Rinku Rinku Rinku”, which was one to remember.

His glorious innings helped India post a noteworthy total of 185/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Notably, he did justify his selection right by performing to a great extent. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad top-scored with 58 off 43 balls (6 fours, 1 six). Meanwhile, Rinku Singh must have gained confidence from his debut innings and will be looking forward to dominating the proceedings when he gets an opportunity to feature again.

In response to India’s innings, Ireland put up a great fight, courtesy of Andrew Balbirnie’s blistering innings at the top. The opening batter scored 72 off 51 balls including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from him, other batters fell prey to cheap scores. On the contrary, India’s interim T20I captain Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India. He registered 2/15 in his quota of 4 overs and also bowled a maiden over.

Ireland ended up at 152/8 in 20 overs. India won the game by 33 runs and also clinched the T20I series by 2-0, with one more game to go. The dead rubber will kick off on August 23, Wednesday at The Village, Dublin.
