At 2:00 PM today, BCCI uploaded a new tweet that featured Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jadeja, Rahul, and Bumrah flaunting India’s new jersey and read, “Presenting the Billion Cheers Jersey! The patterns on the jersey are inspired by the billion cheers of the fans. Get ready to #ShowYourGame.

Turns out fans have liked it a lot. As I write, the tweet has 56k+ likes and 9048 retweets. The pundits have been thrown into a frenzy, and that’s for sure. Below are some of the reactions of netizens.

Sound Waves on the jersey symbolize Fans’ Chants

There’s a lighting-blue sound-wave-like pattern on the shirt which is refreshing to see. “This is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that fans have been memorialized on a jersey. It carries their chants and cheers from iconic past matches, transformed into unique sound-wave patterns,” quotes an MPL release while addressing the pattern.

BCCI prez and former Indian captain Dada has also appreciated the kit and feels there’s no better way to channel the excitement of The Bharat Army.  BCCI secretary Jay Shah also resonates with the viewpoint and has said that “The story behind the jersey is a story of every Indian Cricket Fan. We are sure that wearing this will be a matter of great pride for both the team and supporters alike.”
