Team India’s veteran Pacer, Umesh Yadav has been recalled for the series against Australia. It’s been more than three years since he’s played a T20I game.

There are sure eyebrows being raised about his selection by critics.

Umesh Yadav has taken a dig at critics post his India selection as he was doing pretty good in the nets and was the pick of the bowlers in IPL 2022 as well.

While speaking to journalist Vimal Kumar, Umesh said “I did not play any white-ball cricket after playing for RCB in IPL 2020. I was doing well, practising well, but I did not get the chance. Everyone got to see how well I was doing when I got a chance with KKR in IPL 2022. People got to understand that I was not just relaxing in the off-season”

After Team India’s failure in the Asia Cup, selectors brought Mohammad Shami into the side for the series against Australia to strengthen the pace department.

Shami has also been named as a reserve player for the T20 World Cup scheduled next month in Australia.

However, the star pacer tested positive for Covid-19 which led the team management into a dilemma and eventually they bet on the veteran Umesh Yadav.

It’s worth noting that Umesh has played only seven T20I matches for India since his debut and the last opportunity he got was in 2019.

The Vidarbha pacer just played a couple of matches in IPL 2020 and didn’t get to play in IPL 2021 but made a stunning comeback to the scene with 16 wickets in 12 matches of IPL 2022.

Yadav got an opportunity to represent Middlesex in the Royal London Cup where he scalped 16 wickets in just 7 matches.

With his recent performances, Yadav has shut down the critics and now has an opportunity to again prove himself at the international level.
