Varun Chakravarthy rose to fame after his exploits in the Indian Premier League. The right-arm leggie has been an integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders. Owing to his brilliant performance for the franchise, the bowler has even been selected in the squad for the T20 World Cup. However, in a new development, Chakravarthy’s spot in the T20 World Cup side could be in danger.
The T20 World Cup is just around the corner and all the teams are preparing for the major event which is going to start on 17th October in UAE. The teams have been announced already and the changes in the squad could be made by 10th October. Varun Chakravarthy can be a great asset for the team in the upcoming event, but BCCI has got some worrying news ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Varun Chakravarthy is facing a health issue
As per a BCCI source, Varun Chakravarthy is not doing well as far as his knee is concerned. The leggie is in pain and that’s a worrying sign for the Indian side. The team is taking a risk of playing Chakravarthy only because of the T20 World Cup. They want to make sure that the mystery spinner is available for the major event and is able to provide his services.
The BCCI source also added that Varun Chakravarthy may even need rehab to attain full fitness. In addition to that, the KKR support staff has come up with a strength and conditioning chart for the bowler. The bowler has been taking painkillers to be able to bowl 4 overs for his side in the ongoing Indian Premier League. This is definitely something that the Indian team would be worried about.
