The three-match ODI series between India and England will kick off in Nagpur on February 6. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will don the Indian blue jersey for the first time since August 2024. Both veteran batters have been struggling with poor form, making this series a crucial opportunity to regain rhythm and prepare for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma eye Massive Records in IND vs ENG 2025 ODI Series
During this series, Rohit Sharma will have his sights set on a personal milestone. He is on the verge of surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Rohit is just 134 runs away from reaching 11,000 ODI runs, and if he accomplishes this feat in the next 19 innings—which seems like an easy task—he will become the second-fastest player to 11,000 ODI runs, surpassing Tendulkar. Sachin reached the milestone in 276 innings, while Rohit currently has 10,866 runs in 257 innings.
The record for the fastest 11,000 ODI runs belongs to Virat Kohli, who achieved the milestone in just 222 innings. Kohli now has his sights set on 14,000 ODI runs and is just 94 runs away from reaching the landmark. If he accomplishes this in the next 66 innings, he will become the fastest to 14,000 runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, who took 350 innings.
After reaching 14,000 ODI runs, the Delhi-born cricketer will join Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara as the only players to achieve this milestone. As of now, Kohli has 13,906 runs in 283 innings. Kohli is also just 329 runs away from surpassing Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history.
