Recently, a news report went viral on social media platforms claiming that star Indian batter Virat Kohli charges a whopping 11.45 crore per post on Instagram. On August 12, Kohli took to Twitter and issued a clarification stating that the news related to his social media earnings is not true.
On August 9, Hopper HQ, a post-scheduling website, came out with an ‘Instagram Rich List’. It mentioned the niche, location, followers, and ‘cost per post’ for top celebrities.
The Indian batter was 14th in the list and the third sportsperson after footballers Cristiano Ronaldo (₹26.7 crore) and Lionel Messi (₹21.5 crore). The report went viral on social media platforms and stunned Indian cricket fans.

On August 12, Virat Kohli took to Twitter and debunked the news of charging 11.45 crore per post on Instagram.
“While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” Kohli tweeted.

It’s worth noting that Virat Kohli is one of the most loved Indian cricketers and has 256 million followers on Instagram. However, the viral report had not mentioned metrics or methods to calculate the ‘cost per post’.
While Kohli’s tweet was in the public interest, social media users were more interested in knowing the actual numbers. The cricket fans even wanted to know if his earnings are less or more than the amount claimed in the viral report.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will now feature in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 which will begin on August 30. The star batter was in pretty good form in the recently concluded 2-match test series against West Indies and will hope to continue the same form in the Asia Cup.
Team India is facing some issues in the middle order with the unavailability of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer due to their injuries. With the lack of experience in the middle order, the team management will be expecting Virat to be in his best rhythm in the upcoming major events.
