Virat Kohli’s poor run of form has continued in the first Christchurch test. The no.2 test batsman once again struggled against Tim Southee. The pacer dismissed the Indian skipper for the record 10th time in international. He has become the first bowler to give a send-off to the legendary Indian batsman 10 times. However, Virat Kohli took a review but it didn’t work in his favour.

New Zealand won the toss and invited India to bat first. When Virat Kohli came to the crease, Prithvi Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara had put India on a good position after the early fall of Mayank Agarwal’s wicket. The score was 80 runs at the fall of two wickets.

Virat Kohli Wasted Review

However, Virat Kohli once again found the Kiwi bowlers challenging to play at Hagley Oval. Before he could set his feet, Tim Southee found Kohli wanting in front of stumps. The ball struck on to the pad and umpire was quick to raise his finger. It seemed he was plumbed out still Virat Kohli went for a chat with non-striker Cheteshwar Pujara.

After a chat, Virat Kohli went for a review. The technology made it clear that Indian skipper had wasted a DRS as the ball was hitting the middle stump. Thus the right-handed batsman lost his wicket after scoring 3 runs. Virat Kohli later faced the heat from fans for wasting a review when there was no chance to survive.

Later, Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari put up an 81-run partnership but no other batsman showed any patience and the team was all-out at the score of 242. Kyle Jamieson picked his maiden five-wicket haul in his 2nd test of the career.

Indian fans were expecting the same kind of performance from the Indian bowlers. But the bowlers too disappoint as India failed to get rid of the opening duo Tom Latham and Tom Blundell on the first day. At the end of the first day, New Zealand is playing at 63 per no loss. India will miss Ishant Sharma’s services in the ongoing test as ruled out of the match facing an injury during the net session. The pacer was lethal in the last test. He picked a 5-wicket haul when Burmah and Shami were struggling. Umesh Yadav has replaced Sharma in the ongoing test.
