Former India captain Virat Kohli recently hit 200 million followers on Instagram, in the process becoming the first person from India to achieve this feat. He is now globally the third-most followed athlete on social media, just behind football legends Cristiano Ronaldo (451 million) and Lionel Messi (334 million).

The occasion clearly calls for some celebration, and a lot of Virat’s fans took to social media to congratulate Virat for accomplishing this proud milestone. But as is often the case with social media, some narrow-minded fans took the opportunity to troll Virat’s loved ones for not being able to replicate his level of success.

Case in point being, a fan recently tried to mock Virat’s brother, Vikas Kohli, for not having as many fans as his brother. Vikas happens to be one of Kohli’s most ardent fans, and often shares posts on his social account celebrating his brother’s success. Professionally too, Vikas works in close quarters with Virat and happens to be an integral member in the operations of his sporting apparel brand, One8.

Fan tries to troll Virat Kohli’s brother; Vikas’ reply exposes fan’s double standards

Vikas himself has over 130 thousand followers on social media, which doesn’t match up to Kohli’s numbers but is still quite impressive. But an Instagram user named vis75978 thinks otherwise. Over on the latest Instagram post about Virat, this person tried to troll Vikas for not managing to accomplish 1 million followers.

“Bechahara bhai ka 200 million subscribers ho gya saale ka 1 million v nhi huya”, they wrote. (T: Brother has hit 200 million subscribers and you don’t even have 1 million).

Vikas wasn’t too pleased with the comment and asked the commentor to do something productive and not dispense unwarranted wisdom. And as it turned out, the negative comment was just to bait out a reply from Vikas, as the very same person immediately thanked  Vikas for replying with an emoji. Talk about double standards!

‘Bache kuch productive karo… yaha gyaan mat banto.. (Kid, do something productive… don’t share unnecessary knowledge here)’ reads Vikas Kohli’s reply.
