The greatest batsman of the current generation has tons of batting records on his name, however, Virat Kohli’s Bowling Record will shock you. In a T20I game back in 2011, Virat Kohli took the wicket of Kevin Pieterson on his 0th delivery.

Virat Kohli is not known for his exceptional bowling skills, however, the player has a record that none has been able to achieve even after 12 years. The medium-pace bowler Virat Kohli takes great pride in his bowling and has also taken wickets for India on crucial occasions.

Back in 2011 in a T20I series against England, captain MS Dhoni was convinced by Virat Kohli himself to bowl the 8th over of the Innings. MS heard Virat’s request and he handed over the ball to the vice-captain of the team.

Virat Kohli’s Bowling Record that is still unbroken

The former Indian Captain MS Dhoni chose Virat Kohli to bowl the first over of his international career against England. While bowling the first delivery to Kevin Peterson Virat Kohli’s aim was slightly off target as he bowled a down-the-leg side wide ball which luckily Peterson missed while trying to come down the ground.

MS Dhoni stumped out Peterson on the wide delivery from Kohli which is still a world record as Kohli picked up a wicket without even bowling a delivery. In other words, he is the only bowler to take a wicket on the zeroth ball of the international career. Kohli then completed his over conceding just 4 runs on his first over.

Kohli then completed his spell with the figures of 1-22 in his 3 overs however Englan won that game by 6 wickets in the end. Since then Virat Kohli always raised his hand whenever the team needs a backup bowler in tough situations.

Virat Kohli bowled a 3-ball over against Bangladesh in World Cup 2023

During the league stage game between India and Bangladesh, Virat Kohli rolled his arm when Hardik Pandya walked off the pitch after succumbing to an injury on the 3rd ball of his spell. Virat did complete the over with an accurate line and length along with some shape bowling to the right-hander.

He only conceded 2 runs of the 3 balls but gave the crowd an unreal energy by his short bowling glimpse.

Hardik Pandya hurt his ankle badly as he couldn’t even complete his over after the injury which gave Kohli an opportunity to bowl after 2017.
