David Warner is indeed regarded as one of the greatest left-handed batsmen of his generation. The Australian batter has amassed over 18,000 runs in international cricket, including 49 centuries, placing him among a select few. However, at 37 years old, Warner has entered the latter stage of his career. Recently, the southpaw announced his retirement from Test and ODI formats, and now he has hinted at retiring from T20I format as well.

David Warner Hints at T20I Retirement

David Warner is currently participating in the home T20I series against West Indies. In the first match of the series, which also marked his 100th T20I appearance, Warner scored an impressive 70-run knock. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award. During the post-match presentation, the Australian opener shared his plans.

“Pleasing to get the win on the board. Was a nice wicket to bat on and you have to make the most of it. Feel great and refreshed, I’m pumped. I want to play the T20 World Cup and finish there and it’s a good journey we’ve got going for the next 6 months. Pretty much the same squad going to New Zealand so it’s important we win there as well,” said David Warner.

The T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be played from June 1 to June 29 in the USA and West Indies. Australia hosted the last edition in 2022, where they couldn’t advance to the semi-final stage. In the tournament, David Warner disappointed the Aussie fans by scoring just 44 runs in 4 matches. However, in the 2021 edition held in the UAE, Warner emerged as the highest run-scorer and also won the Player of the Tournament award.
