Washington Sundar sends Lyon’s delivery into the stands with swag

The 4th and the last Test between India and Australia is evenly poised at the moment. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been a rollercoaster ride for the fans as the pendulum kept swinging from one team to another. However, the partnership between Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur on the third day of the last Test has become the talk of the town.

The duo of Sundar and Thakur stole all the thunder of the other batsmen as they were involved in a record 123 partnership for the seventh wicket for India. At one point, India were 186 for the loss of 6 wickets and it looked like the Kangaroos would end up with a lead in excess of 100, but Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur had other plans.

Washington Sundar hit Lyon for a six

Washington Sundar made his debut in the 4th Test and the young lad has impressed one and all with the way he arrived on the big stage. Sundar hit one particular shot in his inning which has caught the fancy of the cricket lovers. Sundar hit a six off Nathan Lyon without even looking at the ball.

The left-handed batsman took on Lyon and sent one of his deliveries into the stands. The connection between the bat and the ball was so sound that Sundar didn’t even care to look at the ball after he slog-swept the ball. The shot was a sure-shot proof of team India’s ‘Never Give Up’ attitude.

It was a great display of grit and determination by the duo as they not only scored runs but covered up for the other batsmen who failed to convert their starts into a big score. The partnership came at a very crucial juncture for the Indian team and it clearly took the advantage away from the Australians.

The match can go either way from here and the first session of the 4th day will play a crucial role in the result of the match. The team that comes out victorious in this Test will also be the winner of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The four-match series is currently levelled at 1-1.
