Michael Vaughan's Kohli-Williamson comparison upsets Wasim Jaffer who gives it back to former English captain.

Michael Vaughan, former captain of England, has developed quite an infamous social media reputation for making contentious claims. Critics have often slandered Vaughan for his bizarre, and sometimes, out-of-contest statements about the current lot of players competing in international cricket.

Michael Vaughan’s troubled history with India fans

In recent times- especially since the start of team India’s home series against England in February this year; Vaughan has made a few observations that haven’t gone down too well with Indian fans. His nitpicky criticisms about the test-match pitches, local playing conditions, and the quality of the Indian team’s playing XI managed to irk quite a few India supporters; a lot of whom even went as far ahead as to brutally troll Vaughan for his opinions.

So it’s hardly a surprise that Vaughan finds himself in the midst of yet another loop of slapback from an India supporter. Although this time, one can argue that the quality of comedy has been at its all-time peak.

A few days back, Vaughan- over on an interview with The Hindustan Times- heaped a torrent of praise on New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. Michael vividly elaborated as to what made Williamson arguably the best batsman in modern cricket; going as far ahead as to call him a better batsman ahead of India captain Virat Kohli.

Now such a claim alone- while arguably contentious- wouldn’t really garner a whole lot of attention from any of the fanbases. But the follow-up statement Michael offered to back up his claim was an unbelievably shallow one.

“Kane Williamson would be the best if he was Indian; people call Kohli the best to get attention”- Michael Vaughan

“If Kane Williamson was Indian, he would be the greatest player in the world. But he’s not because you’re not allowed to say that Virat Kohli is not the greatest. Because you’d get an absolute pelting on social media,” Vaughan told HT.

“So, you all say Virat is the best purely to get a few more clicks and likes, few more numbers following here. Kane Williamson, across formats, is equally the best. I think the way he plays, the calm demeanour, his humbleness, the fact that he is silent about what he does.”, he concluded.

It didn’t take long before Indian fans took to their social accounts to slam Michael for making such hypothetical statements. But out of all the trolls, there was one person who shut Michael down in the most comical of fashions.

“Hamesha ungli karta hai”- Wasim Jaffer’s hilarious insight on Michael Vaughan’s posts

And that person happened to be none other than Wasim Jaffer! The former India batsman- currently serving as Punjab Kings’ batting coach- kept up with his witty social media repo and gave Vaughan a fitting reply.

Wasim referenced Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and his abnormal condition of having six fingers on one hand. “Hrithik’s the one with the extra finger, but it seems like Michael is the one who keeps using it all the time,” he wrote on Twitter.
