Team India kick-started the 2024 calendar year on a positive note by clinching the historic Test against South Africa in Cape Town to level the two-match Test series. Following the overseas assignment, the Indians returned home to feature in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. The T20I opener came to a close yesterday at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

During India’s innings, a serious miscommunication happened between skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. In the second ball of the first over, Fazalhaq Farooqi delivered a fuller-length ball, to which, the Indian skipper nonchalantly punched the ball towards the off-side. Rohit Sharma sensed that there was a clear opportunity to take the single since Ibrahim Zadran, stationed at mid-off didn’t collect the ball cleanly.

Rohit Sharma absolutely furious with Shubman Gill after a run-out

Although Ibrahim Zadran managed to stop the ball, it took him a bit of time to collect the ball and throw it towards the wicketkeeper’s end. In that short gap, Rohit Sharma quickly ran towards the non-striker’s end for a single. However, his partner Shubman Gill didn’t respond to his partner as he remained standstill at the non-striker’s end.

Rohit Sharma was absolutely furious with Shubman Gill as the latter didn’t respond to him when there was a chance to make it to the striker’s end. The horrible mix-up between the duo resulted in a run-out as Rohit Sharma made his way back to the dressing room without scoring. Soon after the dismissal, Rohit Sharma vented his frustration by explaining that there was a chance for a single and the video clip went viral on social media.
