Kiwi batter Glenn Phillips played a match-winning knock of 104 runs in the game against Sri Lanka that helped New Zealand win a crucial game in the super-12 stage of T20 World Cup.
Glenn Phillips’s knock was a hard fought one and had some toil on his body as he was seen limping with cramps while fielding during Sri Lanka’s batting.

New Zealand’s explosive batter came to bat in just the third over of the game as their opener Devon Conway lost his wicket to Dhananjay de Silva. Earlier Finn Allen got out against Theekshana in just the first over.
Phillips went on to score a breathtaking hundred that saved New Zealand from a collapse as he batted right till the final over. The explosive batter made a crucial partnership with Daryl Mitchell who lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs as Phillips kept New Zealand still in hunt single-handedly.
Glenn Phillips’s knock was so intense that he went through some serious pain while fielding in the fourteenth over of Sri Lanka’s innings. Kasun Rajitha played a pull shot towards deep square leg where Phillips was fielding and he ran quickly towards the ball and threw it back to the bowler in no time.
Phillips covered some ground as he reached the ball. However, as soon as he threw the ball, he looked in serious trouble as he experienced cramps in both of his legs. He tried stretching in order to get rid of cramps pain but it didn’t work as the cramps were quite severe.
Eventually, Phillips decided to leave the field as he couldn’t handle cramps pain and Martin Guptill replaced him as the substitute fielder. Just as Phillips crossed the boundary rope he fell down on th ground as he looked in some serious pain.

The commentators were left in splits as Phillips almost danced through the ground as he couldn’t even walk properly. Eventually, the hundred scored by Glenn Phillips turned out to be the difference between the two sides as Sri Lanka crumpled down for just 102 runs as New Zealand marked their second victory in the T20 World Cup.
