West Indies all-rounder Dominic Drakes suffered a scary injury during the International League T20 game between Gulf Giants and Sharjah Warriors on February 6.
Dominic Drakes, who plays for the Gulf Giants in the ILT20 was immediately rushed to the hospital as he looked in severe pain after holding on to the catch.

Gulf Giants faced Sharjah Warriors at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on February 6. Barbadian cricketer Dominic Drakes who attempted an incredible diving catch did manage to hold on to the catch but landed on his face and ended up hurting himself in the process.
During the sixth over of Sharjah Warriors’ innings, Carlos Brathwaite bowled a short delivery to Moeen Ali who attempted a pull shot but couldn’t time it properly. Drakes came running towards the ball and dived to his front to take the catch. His hands got stuck between his chest and the ground as he jammed his face into the turf.

While Drakes made sure that he holds on to the catch, he looked in some serious pain after completing it. Physios were called immediately after the terrible incident and Drakes was stretchered off the field. He was then rushed to the hospital in an ambulance on a stretcher.

Immediately after the terrible accident, his teammate Qais Ahmed was seen offering prayers on the ground for Drakes’ well-being. Qais Ahmed’s heartwarming gesture was appreciated by cricket fans across the globe.
Talking about the game, Sharjah Warriors were bowled out for a mere 107 runs as their innings didn’t get momentum and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. David Wiese bowled a fabulous spell taking a fifer as he gave away just 20 runs in his spell of four overs.
Gulf Giants’ batters comfortably chased the total posted by Sharjah Warriors in just 16.3 overs courtesy of Colin de Grandhomme’s knock of 35 runs while skipper James Vince too chipped in with 27 crucial runs. Junaid Siddique did get a couple of wickets but couldn’t restrict the Gulf Giants from chasing down the total.
