Watch: Ishan Kishan replicates Rishabh Pant’s one-handed six with the latter’s bat

Team India’s young keeper-batter Ishan Kishan is known for his aggressive batting and shot-making ability right since he made his international debut. On Day 4 of the second IND vs WI test in Trinidad, Ishan Kishan replicated Rishabh Pant’s one-handed six while playing with the latter’s bat to reach his maiden test fifty.

The Men in Blue came up to bat in their second innings with a clear intention of scoring pretty quickly in order to seal victory in the rain-affected match. Opening batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma started playing their shots right from the word go.

Skipper Rohit Sharma smashed a quick-fire fifty while Jaiswal scored 38 runs. After the dismissal of both the openers, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan had the responsibility to carry on the momentum in the third session on Day 4.

Ishan Kishan’s one-handed six reminds cricket fans of Rishabh Pant

The young wicketkeeper was promoted to number 4 ahead of Virat Kohli and was given a license to play some big shots. Ishan grabbed the opportunity with both hands and took on the Caribbean bowlers.

Ishan Kishan quickly scored 38 runs off just 30 deliveries. In the 24th over of the Indian innings, he took charge against experienced pacer Kemar Roach and smashed him for two consecutive sixes and reached his maiden fifty in the longest format of the game.

The second maximum that Ishan smashed was an incredible one-handed stroke as the young batter used his bottom hand to clear the long-on boundary. This shot reminded cricket fans of star keeper-batter Rishabh Pant who has played some exceptional one-handed shots right throughout his career.

Interestingly, Ishan Kishan was actually using Rishabh Pant’s bat that had ‘RP17’ written on it. He eventually remained unbeaten after scoring 52 runs off just 34 deliveries including 4 boundaries and a couple of maximums.

Skipper Rohit Sharma declared the Indian innings at a score of 181-2 when the Indian team had gained a lead of 364 runs and he knew rain could further affect the game on Day 5. Shubman Gill too remained unbeaten after scoring 29 runs off just 37 deliveries.

By the end of the play on Day 4, the West Indies side lost the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie and they still need 289 runs to win the second IND vs WI test. Experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took both wickets on Day 4 of the test.
