India tour of England ODI series kicked off in The Oval, Kennington yesterday, 12th July. With great form, the Indian Squad looked fierce in all aspects including batting, bowling and fielding. Indian bowlers took charge from the start as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Even by the time England had already been relayed by ten wickets in 44 overs – of course, this is 50 overs a side, although the entire match seemed to last just hardly any longer than that of the three T20Is that preceded it – Bumrah had accumulated the astounding figures of 6/19, surpassing Ashish Nehra’s 6/23 against England in the 2003 World Cup. The said tally included two for nothing in three balls during his first over of the match, followed by a trip to 4 for 6 in his first four (only one run came off the bat), and two for nothing in seven balls at the death, as England’s tail was sheared off in unwavering fashion after a boisterous but senseless bout of slogging.
Jasprit Bumrah, in one of his best bowling figures in ODI’s grabbed a total of 6 wickets which included four of the best English batters. Bumrah took down Jason Roy() and former skipper Joe Root in his very first over. The paceman then dismissed Jonny Bairstow (7) and Liam Livingstone (0), leaving England at 26/5 after 7.5 overs. Bumrah took his fifth wicket, Bryden Carse, and then David Willey to end their innings with a sixth wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah’s wife mocks English Batters:
While the Indian fast bowler had a fantastic excursion in London, his wife and Sony SIX talk show host Sanjana Ganesan also made fun of the English batters. Ganesan happened to come across a food stall called the ‘Crispy Duck’ while doing a feature on the food stalls just outside of the stadium, and ended up going on to troll the English batters.
Bumrah struck out four batters in the English innings without scoring a run to which Ganesan said, “We’ve come to a stall that not a lot of English batters would like to come to. It’s called the ‘Crispy Duck’. We’ve got a duck wrap is, and we will see how good the duck off-the-field is. Because the ducks on the field have been absolutely fantastic.”
