Indian team displayed a dominant performance in the Holkar Stadium while asked to bat first. In form, Shubman Gill continued his purple patch and scored his 5th ODI ton of the year. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer also played a fantastic knock after returning from a severe injury.
After winning the toss Australia asked India to bat first on a terrific wicket to bat on. India in response despite losing Ruturaj Gaikwad early scored at a rate of 7 runs per over till the end of the 20th over without losing a wicket.
Gill and Shreyas kept taking advantage of the short boundaries of Holkar Stadium and smashed the Aussie bowlers all over the park. Shreyas and Gill completed their hundred inside 30 overs before losing their wickets.
India lost two centurions inside the span of 4 overs but that didn’t stop the carnage by the Indian batters as the Indian skipper KL Rahul scored a quick 52 off 38 balls along with Suryakumar Yadav who made an unbeaten 72 off just 37 balls.

While India was continuing their brutal hitting against the Australian bowlers KL’s one monstrous hit went out of the stadium. After India lost the wicket of Shreyas Iyer, the stand-in skipper KL Rahul came in and continued the fireworks going.

Cameron Green who had a terrible game with the ball got hit by KL Rahul for a mammoth six. KL was in the mood as soon as he walked on the pitch and he smashed 3 sixes in his inning including the huge hit against Green who conceded over a hundred runs in his spell.
India won the rain-hit game by 99 runs
After posting a mammoth total of 400 runs it was always going to be difficult for the Australian team to chase down and the rain increased their problems even more. Before the rain interruption, Australia already lost their opener Short and captain Steven Smith inside just 2 overs.
However, the rain halt made the Aussies’ situation even worse as now they needed to chase 317 runs inside 33 overs. Warner did play a decent hand before he was given out by Dharamsen for LBW while he nicked the ball.

The Australian team collapsed badly in the chase and they were 140/8 at one stage of the game. However, Sean Abbott and Hazelwood did make a fighting partnership and took the score of 217 runs from that stage but it wasn’t enough.
