Chennai Super Kings won their 5th IPL title after defeating Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final on May 29. After the CSK vs GT contest, Deepak Chahar asked MS Dhoni for his autograph but the CSK skipper hilariously denied him and reminded him of Shubman Gill’s catch that he had put down.

Just after CSK won the game, players began approaching captain MS Dhoni for his autograph and he obliged every time. However, Deepak Chahar wasn’t that lucky as he went to his captain for a signature but Dhoni denied it straight away.

MS Dhoni shoos Deepak Chahar away as the pacer asks for an autograph after IPL 2023 final

After CSK successfully chased down the total posted by Gujarat Titans, a video surfaced on social media in which MS Dhoni could be seen backing off after Deepak Chahar asks him for an autograph. Dhoni shooed him away first and after multiple denials, the CSK skipper finally agreed to sign his shirt.

The CSK skipper reminded Chahar of the dropped chance of in-form GT opener Shubman Gill. While the dropped catch didn’t cost CSK much, but Dhoni made sure to express his disappointment to the CSK pacer after the game and blasted him in front of Rajeev Shukla.

The incident happened in the 2nd over of Gujarat Titans’ innings. Tushar Deshpande bowled a full-length delivery, which went straight into the hands of Deepak Chahar who was perfectly placed at square leg position for that catch. However, the CSK pacer failed to hold onto the ball leaving the CSK camp in a shock.

Shubman Gill had scored just 3 runs when his catch was put down by Chahar. Both GT openers were looking tentative in the first couple of overs as it was a high-pressure game. After the dropped catch both of them started playing aggressive shots and provided they much-needed momentum to their innings.

Later, MS Dhoni’s lightning-fast glove work corrected Chahar’s mistake in the 7th over of GT innings. The CSK skipper stumped the Gujarat Titans opener to repair the damage done by the dropped chance as Gill departed after scoring a quick-fire 39.
